I don't carry them anymore (I had problems with them breaking intransit and replacing them for free made them less than a money maker) butI can have them sent directly from the distributor to you. If you areinterested they are $13.00 including shipping. To use one you basicallytake a reading of the beverage before fermentation and a second readingafter fermentation. The difference between the two is the alcohol %. Justemail me if you are interested in getting one shipped directly to you, orany good homebrewing or gourmet store should sell them, they are a commonitem for beer and wine makers.Cheers,SteveAt 01:46 PM 11/29/2004 +0000, you wrote:>i think i remember reading somewhere on the site that you can order them>through you guys and that they aren't that expensive. is that the>case? if i>can't get them through you guys, where can i get them for the cheapest>price?>and how exactly do they work? i just think it'd be fun to find out how>strong the>stuff is that i'm making considering some of my friends have taken some of my>drinks as shots because they tasted so strong...>>thanks!>>>>>>>>Yahoo! Angela,Just use your smallest measuring spoon and eyeball anestimate. You can NEVER use too much yeast and rarely will using toolittle cause a problem.Cheers,SteveAt 03:13 AM 11/27/2004 +0000, you wrote:>Hi all, Jusr got my caps, and reading the directions...see I need>something that will measure 1/8th and 1/16th of a teaspoon. Hello,Actually it would be just as cheap to buy the off brand cheapersoda and dump the soda out. I can get 2 liters of soda here for .50cents each. Search on the net for plastic bottles and see what youcome up with. I have searched for other bottles and know they can beexpensive. Thus the buying soda and emptying it out.Just my two cents. I will look through my sources and if I canfind a source I'll post it here.Ray W.--- Steve wrote:> Amber,>> The only source I know of for items like that for NEWbottles> requires purchasing thousands of them. Amber, I actuallydeveloped an EZ Cap that would fit onto the larger milk-jug size bottlesand others but EZ Caps only work with containers that were originallymanufactured to hold a carbonated beverage. Some day afuture development may be a more expensive kit that includes bigcontainers. I found a lot of gallon jugs (which is roughly equivalent to 2 liters) for sale on various sites like ebottles, etc., some of them even cheaper than what I pay for 2 liter soda bottles (not to mention they're a little more reusable, so that drives the cost down a bit more), but unfortunately I couldn't find any with a 30mm cap size. The few bottles I did find with that cap size were 1 liter or smaller, which seems a little unpractical for brewing. I'd certainly need to buy a lot more E-Z Caps, anyway. Is there any chance the E-Z Caps might come in a 38mm size? A lot of commercial juice bottles, for instance, have those larger size caps, as do water and milk jugs, etc. It seems like there'd be a lot more options in terms of brewing vessels with the larger size cap, since as far as I can tell, the 2 liter soda bottles and their immediate cousins are the only ones with that size cap, and they're obviously not available new to hobbyists. I've googled until I can google nomore, but haven't found any new 2 liters to buy, so if you have a source, please let me know. If I lived in a place with some room to store them, Ithink I'd go ahead and purchase a big lot from wherever and peddle thesurplus to other brewers on Ebay. E-Z Cappers aren't the only ones whouse them, I'm surprised there isn't at least one brewing supply storeselling them on the Web by now.I might try the recycle bins and see what I can find, since you can't beat"free", although I'm sure cleaning them will take up some time. If I canfind some very cheap soda I'll try that, too, but so far I haven't found anydiscounted that much. A dollar a bottle is what I normally pay for one 2liter, which is still a pretty good deal in terms of making alcohol, but Iguess I've gotten so spoiled on cheap wines and meads that I want to producemy soda cheaper than retail, too. I found a lot of gallon jugs (which is roughly equivalent to 2 liters) forsale on various sites like ebottles, etc., some of them even cheaper thanwhat I pay for 2 liter soda bottles (not to mention they're a little morereusable, so that drives the cost down a bit more), but unfortunately Icouldn't find any with a 30mm cap size.
