This is why our beer kits are currently not for sale
#1
Some of you may be wondering what happened to the beer kits.

Due to economies of scale (well, actually lack thereof) we have been unable to source the hopped dried malt extract at a significant enough savings to make it a commerically viable product, and the high cost of shipping 7+ pounds per kit certainly didn't help. In other words, the price was too high even though we were offering it at cost. The high price resulted in poor sales which resulted in expired product which made it a real loser from a merchant standpoint. It was an excellent way to be introduced to truly effortless beer making and we were happy to do it as a "public service" while we were breaking even, but when the product started expiring we had to stop offering it all the time.

We still plan on offering the beer kits seasonally. Look for limited availability every fall and early winter, think Oktoberfest-Christmas time.

That being said, all the ingredients in our beer kits are readily available online and at your local homebrew store. It's the same ingredients and easy brewing technique you can get in our beer kits. Check out our beer recipe section.

Sorry to hear you're no longer offering these kits. I've been making great cider with your caps and want to move on to making some stouts and ales.

What would I need to purchase to do this?

Thanks,

The easiest way is to just go to your local homebrew store (or online) and purchase a can of hopped liquid malt syrup (it comes with the right yeast specific to the type of beer you are making).

Dried malt extract (DME) also makes great EZ Capped beer, but the hopped variety is nearly impossible to find (and not hopped enough), so the hops must be added as an additional step.

I'm in Spain, and I know of no shops here that specialise in brewing ingredients, so I'll probably have to have things shipped in from the UK, which makes dry ingredients sound like the way to go.

Do you happen to know of any easy, step-by-step recipes for the EZ-cap method that you could link me to?

Thats understandable. Since buying the EZ-caps from you I have noticed a genuine concern about keeping the costs down to the customers and I appreciate that very much  With the high cost of shipping such a kit, it would probably be better to just go to a home brewing store and buy the ingredients ourselves and use the caps that we already have.
