Black Cherry Wine
#1
I mixed 1 cup of sugar into a clean soda bottle 90% full with Nature's Promise Black Cherry Juice and added about 1/8th tsp of yeast. Screwed on the ezcap and have been letting is sit for about 2 days now. It doesn't look like it's fermenting because there are very few bubbles, no head and it doesn't smell like it's fermenting, it smells like straight yeast. I plan on letting it sit and ferment for about 14 days. My question is, does anyone know why it might not be fermenting? I also have a honey mead and concord grape brews that I mixed up as per the recipes list that came with the ez caps, both of which I used in the past and they seem to be fermenting just fine, so I don't know why the black cherry juice doesn't seem to be working. Anyone got any ideas?

I haven't had much luck with cherries fermenting, it could be that the juices often contain preservatives which prevent the fermentation from happening. If you can find a cherry juice concentrate that would be ideal.
