Problem with a drink
#1
In an attempt to make an orange-cream type drink, I found a orangeflavored drink concentrate made by a company called ZaRex that doesNOT require refrigeration. You just mix it with water to get theorange-cream taste I mentioned before. The only ingredients in it arehigh fructose corn syrup, water, orange and other natural flavor, citric acid, and it mentions that it is preserved with sodiumbenzoate and it colored with yellow#6. So I mixed the drink accordingto taste, but in order to put more nutrients into the drink for theyeast to eat I used part Fruit2O and part tap water (figuring theFruit2O would boost the nutrients, of course... but entirely unsurewhether or not it was a good idea). I put about 2/3 cups of sugar inand almost 1/2 teaspoon of yeast. It has been more than 36 hours now,and it shows NO signs of life, even when I take off the cap there isso subtle hiss of CO2. I was wondering if you could help me at all indetermining why it isn't fermenting and what I might be able to do ifI try again... i.e. add a portion of a frozen concentrate for morenutrients? Thanks again,MarkORGINAL POSTER: neldaarjr4
