One of my tastiest EZ caps recipies is slow by easy caps standards, butstill WAY fast by traditional winemaking standards.Make a "regular" batch of either "Nature's Nectar" or "Welch's" WhiteGrape Rasberry juice (about 1 1/2 liters), 1/2 cup cane sugar, and yourez caps yeast, let it brew 14 days at 70-75 degrees F and be sure toshake it up good every day. Refridgerate it to knock the yeast back, then sulfite to kill the last of the beaties off. mix in another 3/4cup sugar and drink up.It's yummy-yummy!ORGINAL POSTER: willum

So a 1/2 cup is 4 ounces, and 3/4 is 6 ounces. If you are totally without measuring equipment the average man's handholds approximately half of a cup = 4ounces. IIRCAs for the yeast, I usually just use about 1/4 to 1/2 a packet of dryyeast. Not sure about liquid yeasts, as I haven't used any yet. :-)The amount/weight of the yeast and sugar kind of depends on what youspecifically want to brew as well.HTHmoiraNo virus found in this outgoing message.Checked by AVG Free Edition.Version: 7.1.362 / Virus Database: 267.13.8/183 - Release Date: 11/25/2005ORGINAL POSTER: moira

James, here's an easy way to do it. A "cup" is something a man wears whileplaying soccer, or what you might call "football". I don't suggest measuringanything in one. They have a tendency to leak.A "teaspoon" in the American idiom is an old-timey way of saying "coffeespoon".The only Americans that drink tea are Grandmothers and pretentious fops who onlydrink tea if it has a name like Rooibos or Chai. Of course, those samepretentious fops only drink coffee if it has a name like Maple CaramelVanillacinno Frappe. But, I digress. An American cup(8 oz.) is about 240ml, 3/4 cup =80ml, 1/2cup= 120ml. And and1/8tsp of dry yeast is around .625ml.Good thing I served in Iraq with some of your boys or else I never would havelearned the metric system. I also would never have learned what a lorrie was.MarkFrom: J COULING Date: Sun Nov 27 17:26:13 CST 2005To: E-Z-Caps@yahoogroups.comSubject: [E-Z-Caps] (unknown)Alright lads,im new to the EZ cap brewing and i'd liketo know if anyone can tell me how to measure a "cup"of sugar? and how much is a 1/2 to 3/4 cup of sugar? a'cup' aint a cup unless you know what a 'cup'is, alsohow do you get an 1/8th of a teaspoon of yeast! thatis so hard to work out,i aint got a clue how tomeasure these important factors without scales on theinitial brews, can anyone give me their views on thesepoints? can anyone tell me their weights of stuff likeyeast and sugar?,cheers chaps.from James.EnglandYahoo! Ok, this lass will help you with conversions. 1 standard cup equals237 ml. 1/2 cup equals 118 ml and 3/4 cup equals 177 ml.To measure 1/8th teaspoon, just use half of a 1/4 teaspoon measure.1/8th teaspoon equals .62 ml.Hope that helps. I used this website to do the conversions.http://www.sciencemadesimple.net/volume.php--- In E-Z-Caps@yahoogroups.com, J COULING wrote:>> Alright lads,im new to the EZ cap brewing and i'd like> to know if anyone can tell me how to measure a "cup"> of sugar? and how much is a 1/2 to 3/4 cup of sugar? a> 'cup' aint a cup unless you know what a 'cup'is, also> how do you get an 1/8th of a teaspoon of yeast! that> is so hard to work out,i aint got a clue how to> measure these important factors without scales on the> initial brews, can anyone give me their views on these> points? can anyone tell me their weights of stuff like> yeast and sugar?,cheers chaps.from James.England>ORGINAL POSTER: dawn

James, I'm not one of the lads but I hope I will do. Maybe you could try going to a weight and measurement site on the web and convert the US measurements to those that you use in England. Hope this helps.Tammy There is 1 message in this issue. Topics in this digest: 1. Get a hydrometer from a brew shop. You need to take a measurement before the fermentation begins and once more after the fermentation completed.retiredron96 wrote: I made my first batch of wine using E-Z Caps. I believe you need to use a hydrometer. You test theproduct before and after fermentation then check thedifference in density, which determines the alcoholpercentage.>>>__________________________________Yahoo!
