I have heard you can make some great wines with tomatos or cucumbers...but Ionly find large quantity recipes online that do not use the E-Z cap method theyare more keyed toward traditional winemakers. You should use the e-z cap if you like your mead to be sparkling. If you like itto be still (uncarbonated), then you just need to use a regular penny bubbler orairlock that lets the CO2 out freely but keeps the nasties from getting in.One question about your recipe: when you say "1/2 water", is that a half-cup? Hey everyone! Brand new to e-z caps and brewing in general. I have three2-liters going right now: A hard cider, a white grape, and amead/cyser....Here's what I did for the cyser...1/2 water1/4 apple juice12 ounces of honey1/4 cup sugara pinch of yeastThe main question I have is...do I use the e-z cap when making mead, or do Ileave it uncovered?ORGINAL POSTER: felonoftroy

See how you get onwith a) a full teacup b) less than c) more than, and see what the results are.Also lengthen and shorten your brew time - see what works for you.
